Phi Theta Kappa and Jesuit Founders Full Tuition Scholarship Opportunities

As a Phi Theta Kappa scholar, we are impressed by what you have achieved in your college career thus far. The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships offered by Detroit Mercy.  If awarded, full tuition will be met with a combination of the PTK Scholarship and other federal, state and private grants and scholarships. Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required.

The Jesuit Founders Scholarship, also a top scholarship, rewards transfer students who have been academically successful and show promise of continued excellence.  If awarded, full tuition will be met with a combination of the Jesuit Founders Scholarship and other federal, state and private grants and scholarships. Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required.

Criteria

  • Transfer student status (high school dual enrolled students are not eligible)
  • Minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA (all undergraduate coursework after high school)
  • PTK Membership (Not required for Jesuit Founders)
  • Plan to enroll full-time at Detroit Mercy
  • No prior bachelor’s degree
  • Standard admission with no conditions
  • 24+ transferable credits
  • Complete FAFSA listing Detroit Mercy as the number 1 school (School Code: 002323)
  • Qualified students will be invited to participate once admitted

Winter 2027 Deadlines:

  • Invitations will be sent to those eligible on a rolling basis starting September 4, 2026
  • Must be admitted by November 2, 2026
  • Documents must be submitted by November 16, 2026 at 5 p.m. ET
  • Recipients will be notified by December 7, 2026

The full-tuition scholarships cover tuition only and do not include books, additional fees or housing.  You must be admitted to be eligible for an invitation and must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (). Minimum requirements include the criteria listed above. If qualified, the invitation will include directions to submit a scholarship essay and one letter of recommendation. Candidates will also interview with the Scholarship Committee. Unfortunately, students who already hold a bachelor’s degree are not eligible. You can only be invited one time to compete for this scholarship and cannot defer your admission to another term or change your major.
